A Guide to Our Specialist Fleet of Heavy Haulage Vehicles

14 January 2025

Heavy haulage is an essential service that allows for abnormal loads to be moved from one location to another. Cargo may consist of large containers, plant machinery, or boat parts, where these items must be transported with the utmost care in order to ensure that they arrive at their destination in good condition.

To achieve this, heavy haulage transportation is carried out with the help of specialist vehicles, which have been designed to support abnormal loads. At Nick Sampson, we maintain a fleet of impressive haulage vehicles, so we can complete all kinds of transportation projects to an unbeatable standard.

Read on for a closer look at some of our top heavy haulage vehicles.

Tail Lift Pick-Up Truck

Our impressive 13 tonne tail lift pick-up truck can be used for a range of medium weight heavy haulage projects. The added tail lift feature makes it much easier to load and unload the truck, where this consists of a board that can be lowered to the road surface. This means that cargo can be rolled onto the truck with the need for heavy lifting.

Truck with Interchangeable Trailers

We also offer access to our 26 tonne truck, where this model facilitates interchangeable trailers for loading and unloading goods. This means that trailers of a standardised size can be attached and detached on-site without the support of a specialist mechanic. As a result, different load bodies can be transported using the same semi-trailer, helping to make the heavy haulage process more cost effective.

Rear Mounted Crane

Our 32 tonne rear mounted crane can be used to load and unload heavy cargo from the truck’s deck. This model allows for the heavy lifting capabilities of the crane to be entirely portable, so haulage work can be carried out even in tight spaces. When you choose this option, you can also benefit from an additional drawbar trailer for further storage potential.

Low Loader Trailers

We currently offer a selection of standard and extendable low loader trailers to assist in the heavy haulage process. These vehicles reach up to 80 tonnes in train weight, with payloads up to 65 tonnes. Low loaders are designed to facilitate easy loading of plant machinery, where your cargo will be secured safely before the transportation process begins.
